This monthly electronic newsletter provides a snapshot of some of the current work of the Regional Program for Sustainable Agricultural Development in Central Asia and the Caucasus, supported by the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). The Program aims at reducing poverty and hunger, improving human health and nutrition, and enhance ecosystem resilience through high-quality international research, partnership and leadership in Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) and the Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia).

Visiting Fayzabad district in Rasht Valley in Tajikistan, a potential research and demonstration site for integrated agricultural research. Multidisciplinary projects have been implemented in the four main agro-ecosystems of Central Asia and the Caucasus: rainfed and irrigated agriculture, mountains and rangelands during the year 2015. / Полевой визит в район Файзабад в Раштской долине в Таджикистане, один из научно-демонстрационных площадок для комплексного сельскохозяйственного исследования. 2015 год был отмечен реализацией междисциплинарных проектов в четырех основных агро-экосистемах Центральной Азии и Южного Кавказа: богарное и орошаемое земледелие, горные местности и пастбища.

Declared as the "International Year of Soils" by the 68th UN General Assembly, the year 2015 showcased implementation of a variety of multidisciplinary research programs and projects that have contributed to combating land degradation and improving soils in Central Asia and the Caucasus.

По итогам 68-й Генеральной Ассамблеи ООН ушедший 2015 год был объявлен «Международным годом почвы». Минувший год был отмечен успешной реализацией ряда междисциплинарных научно-исследовательских программ и проектов, которые внесли вклад в борьбу с деградацией земель и улучшение почвы в Центральной Азии и Южном Кавказе.
